Anchorage Airport Map
The Anchorage Airport map below shows the full layout of Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC/PANC). ANC is Alaska’s busiest passenger airport and one of the world’s top cargo hubs, handling 5.3 million passengers in 2024 with over 11 percent year-over-year seat capacity growth into the first half of 2026. It is a major hub for Alaska Airlines, with service from over a dozen carriers to destinations across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.
As you can see on the Anchorage Airport map, the layout centres on two separate terminals: the South Terminal (domestic) with three concourses and 24 gates, and the North Terminal (international) with 8 gates. A covered landside walkway and free shuttle bus connect both terminals. Study the ANC airport map before you travel so you know which terminal and concourse your airline uses.

Anchorage Airport South Terminal (Domestic)
The South Terminal handles all domestic flights at Anchorage Airport and is the larger of ANC’s two buildings. It contains three concourses — A, B and C — with a total of 24 gates plus two additional L gates (L1 and L2) outside security adjacent to Concourse A. The South Terminal has three levels: Level 1 (baggage claim and arrivals), Level 2 (check-in counters, security and boarding gates) and Level 3 (mezzanine).
South Terminal Levels
Anchorage Airport Security Checkpoints
Each terminal at Anchorage Airport has its own security checkpoint. The South Terminal checkpoint is on Level 2 and offers TSA PreCheck lanes. The North Terminal has a separate checkpoint on its upper level. There is no airside connection between the two terminals, so passengers transferring between them must exit security, walk or shuttle to the other terminal and re-clear security.
Anchorage Airport Concourse A
Concourse A is located in the south portion of the South Terminal. As shown on the Anchorage Airport map, it houses gates A10–A16 (plus L1 and L2 outside security on the lower level). The Atwood Military Courtesy Lounge is located in Concourse A.
Gates L1 and L2 are located outside security on the lower level adjacent to Concourse A. These are used by select regional and commuter carriers — check your boarding pass carefully.
Anchorage Airport Concourse B
Concourse B sits centrally within the South Terminal with gates B1–B10. It connects directly to Concourse A and includes an indoor pet relief area before Gate B1 and a nursery room at the start of the concourse.
Concourses A and B connect directly airside. If your gate changes between these two concourses, you can walk without re-clearing security.
Anchorage Airport Concourse C
Concourse C is the most modern part of the South Terminal, completely rebuilt in 2004 with a contemporary design. It is located to the north within the terminal and houses gates C1–C9. The Alaska Lounge and a Starbucks are both in Concourse C.
Concourse C is accessible from the main South Terminal area. The Alaska Lounge offers complimentary food and drinks for Alaska Airlines premium passengers and Priority Pass members.
Anchorage Airport North Terminal (International)
The North Terminal at Anchorage Airport handles all international arrivals, seasonal international flights and military charter operations. It has 8 gates (N1–N8) located down a pier-shaped hallway on the west side. The terminal was built in 1982 and has three levels: Level 1 (check-in, baggage claim and customs), Level 2 (boarding gates and second customs area) and Level 3 (lounges).
There is no airside connection to the South Terminal. International arrivals clear customs in the North Terminal before exiting to the landside area. A free shuttle and covered walkway connect both terminals.
Moving Between Terminals on the Anchorage Airport Map
Unlike airports with airside connectors, Anchorage Airport’s two terminals are only linked on the landside (before security). You can walk between them via a covered inter-terminal walkway that connects the north end of the South Terminal to the south end of the North Terminal — about 5 to 10 minutes on foot. A free shuttle bus also runs every 15 minutes between both terminals and the Rental Car Center.
Connection Times and Re-Screening
If you are connecting between an international arrival at the North Terminal and a domestic departure from the South Terminal, you must clear U.S. Customs in the North Terminal, exit to the landside area, walk or shuttle to the South Terminal, and re-clear security. Allow at least 90 minutes for international-to-domestic connections. Within the South Terminal, Concourses A and B connect directly airside, but Concourse C is accessed from the main terminal area — check signage for the most direct route to your gate.
Getting to Anchorage Airport
Ground transportation departs from Level 1 (baggage claim) of the South Terminal and from outside the North Terminal lobby.
Anchorage Airport Parking
Parking at ANC is managed by Republic Parking. Real-time availability and rates are listed at dot.alaska.gov/anc. Parking fills quickly during peak summer travel — arrive early or consider off-site alternatives.
Anchorage Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at Anchorage Airport or meeting a passenger, the process depends on which terminal they land at. Domestic arrivals exit their gate in the South Terminal and proceed downstairs to Level 1 baggage claim (carousels 1–8). International arrivals land at the North Terminal, clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection, collect baggage and exit on Level 1.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
From the South Terminal, taxis wait outside Door 3 on Level 1. Ride-share pick-up is also on Level 1. Hotel shuttles pick up outside Door 6, and off-site parking shuttles use Doors 6–8. The North Terminal has taxis outside Door 2 and shuttle pick-up outside Door 1. The free inter-terminal shuttle and Rental Car Center shuttle both stop at both terminals. If picking someone up by car, use the free Cell Phone Lot on International Airport Road and collect your passenger from the terminal curb.
Anchorage Airport Map — Departures
Departing passengers should enter their terminal on the upper level. At the South Terminal, check in at your airline’s counter on Level 2, then proceed through the security checkpoint to your concourse (A, B or C). At the North Terminal, check-in and security are on the upper levels, with gates N1–N8 accessible after screening.
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Parking is limited and TSA lines are busiest before late-evening red-eye departures. Summer months (June–August) see double the passenger traffic of winter — build in extra time. Alaska Airlines has eliminated kiosk check-in for boarding passes at ANC; print yours at home or use the airline app, as counter stations are now used only for bag tags.
Insider Tips
Anchorage sits at sea level but weather changes fast — dress in layers even in summer. The airport showcases one of the finest collections of Alaska Native art in the world, with pieces throughout both terminals and dedicated gallery spaces on the Concourse C mezzanine and in the Northern Lights Corridor. Look for the taxidermied Alaskan animals on the baggage claim level. Free Wi-Fi is available in both terminals (network: “ANC FREE WIFI”). For long layovers, the Alaska Aviation Museum at nearby Lake Hood is a half-mile away and may send a shuttle if you call ahead. The Bill Sheffield Alaska Railroad Depot at the airport operates seasonally for cruise-tour passengers only and is not a public commuter option.
