Atlanta Airport Map & Terminal Guide 2026
Two terminals, seven concourses, 193 gates. Everything you need to navigate Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) — the world’s busiest airport by passenger traffic since 1998.
Atlanta Airport Map
The Atlanta Airport map below shows the full layout of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL/KATL). ATL handled 106.3 million passengers in 2025, retaining its title as the world’s busiest airport by passenger volume — a distinction it has held almost continuously since 1998. It is the primary hub for Delta Air Lines and an operating base for Southwest Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines, with 27+ carriers serving over 245 destinations worldwide.
As you can see on the Atlanta Airport map, the layout is linear: a Domestic Terminal on the west side and an International Terminal on the east, connected by seven concourses (T, A, B, C, D, E and F) running in a straight line. The free Plane Train underground people mover and a pedestrian Transportation Mall with moving walkways link all concourses 24/7. Study the ATL airport map before you travel so you know which concourse your airline uses.

Atlanta Airport Location Map
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of downtown Atlanta. The Atlanta Airport location map below shows ATL’s position relative to the city. The airport sits near the intersection of Interstates 75, 85 and 285, making it accessible from virtually every direction in metro Atlanta and beyond.
Atlanta Airport Terminals
Atlanta Airport has two separate terminal buildings: the Domestic Terminal on the west side and the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal on the east side. Each has its own roadway access, curbside drop-off, ticket counters and baggage claim. The Domestic Terminal connects directly to Concourses T through E, while the International Terminal connects to Concourse F. The Plane Train and pedestrian walkway link both terminals airside.
Domestic Terminal
The Domestic Terminal is the main hub of Atlanta Airport, handling the vast majority of check-in, security and baggage claim. It is divided into a north side and south side, each with its own ticket counters, curbside lanes and baggage carousels. Concourse T is attached directly to the Domestic Terminal, with the Plane Train and Transportation Mall departing from the west end.
International Terminal (Maynard H. Jackson Jr.)
The International Terminal opened in 2012 on the east side of the airport. Departing international passengers check in and clear security here before accessing Concourse F. Arriving international passengers clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Concourse F, then exit into the International Terminal’s arrivals hall. The International Terminal has its own roadway access from I-75 at Exit 239.
Atlanta Airport Security Checkpoints
The Domestic Terminal has three TSA security checkpoints: North, South and Main. All three offer TSA PreCheck lanes. CLEAR biometric screening is available at the North and South checkpoints. The International Terminal has its own security checkpoint for passengers departing on international flights from Concourse F. Once through any checkpoint, you can freely access all seven concourses via the Plane Train or Transportation Mall without re-clearing security.
The Plane Train & Transportation Mall
Atlanta Airport Concourse T
Concourse T is attached directly to the Domestic Terminal and is the first concourse after security. It handles a mix of carriers and was recently extended at its north end, adding gates T18–T21 as part of the ATLNext program.
Concourse T is the closest to check-in and security. The north extension (T18–T21) added 35,000+ sq ft of concourse and concessions space.
Atlanta Airport Concourses A & B — Delta Domestic Hub
Concourses A and B are used exclusively by Delta Air Lines for mainline domestic flights. Together they account for 60 gates and form the core of Delta’s ATL hub operation. Both are accessible by Plane Train or the Transportation Mall.
Atlanta Airport Concourse C
Concourse C sits at the midpoint of the airport. The south side is used by Southwest Airlines (its Atlanta operating base), along with Alaska Airlines and some Frontier and Spirit flights. The north side primarily handles Delta Connection regional flights.
Atlanta Airport Concourse D
Concourse D handles Delta Connection regional flights, some Delta mainline, plus Frontier and Spirit operations. It is currently undergoing a major $1.4 billion expansion under the ATLNext program, widening the concourse from 60 to nearly 100 feet using innovative modular construction. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2029, reducing gates from 40 to 34 but accommodating larger aircraft.
Concourse D is ATL’s narrowest concourse. Expect construction activity and temporary gate closures through 2029. The expanded concourse will feature 75% more boarding-level space and doubled restroom sizes.
Atlanta Airport Concourse E — International & Domestic
Concourse E serves both domestic and international flights. Delta operates international routes here alongside Aeromexico. Frontier uses gates on the north end as its Atlanta operating base. The Amex Centurion Lounge and a Delta Sky Club are located in this concourse.
Atlanta Airport Concourse F — International Gateway
Concourse F is connected to the International Terminal and handles all non-Delta international carriers. It is the only concourse with a gate that can accommodate an Airbus A380. International arrivals are processed through U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Concourse F before passengers exit into the International Terminal.
Concourse F is the furthest from the Domestic Terminal. Allow plenty of time if connecting from domestic concourses — the Plane Train ride from Concourse T to F takes about 8 minutes.
Getting Between Concourses on the Atlanta Airport Map
Unlike many airports, you can freely move between all seven concourses after clearing security at Atlanta Airport. The Plane Train automated people mover runs underground, connecting Concourses T, A, B, C, D, E and F in sequence. It operates 24/7 with departures approximately every two minutes. Running parallel is the Transportation Mall, a pedestrian tunnel with moving walkways that stretches the full length of the airport.
Connection Times Between Concourses
The Plane Train takes about 8 minutes from Concourse T to Concourse F (the full run). Walking via the Transportation Mall takes roughly 18 minutes end-to-end. For connections between gates on distant concourses, allow at least 30–45 minutes, as individual concourses can be long. Delta recommends a minimum connection time of 45–60 minutes at ATL for domestic-to-domestic connections, and 90 minutes for domestic-to-international.
Getting to Atlanta Airport
All ground transportation for the Domestic Terminal is accessible from the arrivals level. The International Terminal has its own separate curbside pick-up and drop-off.

Atlanta Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at Atlanta Airport or meeting a passenger, the arrivals process depends on whether the flight is domestic or international. Domestic passengers deplane at their concourse, take the Plane Train or walk to the Domestic Terminal, and proceed to baggage claim on the arrivals level (north or south side). International passengers arriving in Concourse F clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection there, collect checked bags, and exit into the International Terminal’s arrivals hall on the lower-level roadway.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
At the Domestic Terminal, taxis and ride-shares pick up at the arrivals curbside. MARTA’s Airport Station is at the west end of the terminal, between north and south baggage claim. The SkyTrain to the Rental Car Center departs from the same area. At the International Terminal, passenger pick-up is on the outer curb of the lower level.
Atlanta Airport Map — Departures
Departing passengers should go to the correct terminal: the Domestic Terminal for domestic and most Delta international flights, or the International Terminal for non-Delta international flights departing from Concourse F. Check in at your airline’s ticket counter, clear security, then take the Plane Train or walk through the Transportation Mall to your concourse and gate.
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights. During peak morning hours (5–9 a.m.) or holiday periods, allow extra time for security. Check-in counters and bag drop typically close 45–60 minutes before departure. Gate assignments appear on flight information screens throughout the terminals and on your airline’s app.
Insider Tips
ATL is enormous — Concourses T through F stretch over a mile. Wear comfortable shoes. The Plane Train is the fastest way between concourses, but the Transportation Mall pedestrian walkway is a pleasant alternative if you have time. Peak security times are 5–9 a.m. and 4–8 p.m. MARTA is the cheapest and often the fastest route to downtown, avoiding I-75/85 traffic. If connecting between Concourses A and F, allow at least 45 minutes. Refer to the Atlanta Airport map above to plan your route before you arrive.
