Boston Logan Airport Terminal A — Delta Air Lines
Boston Logan Terminal A is the home of Delta Air Lines, which operates a major transatlantic hub here. The terminal is divided into two sections: a main concourse with 11 gates (A1–A11) and a satellite concourse with 10 additional gates (A13–A22), connected by an underground walkway with moving sidewalks.
The underground tunnel to the satellite concourse takes about 5 minutes with moving walkways. Allow extra time if your gate is in the A13–A22 range. Two security checkpoints: one central, one at the east end.
Boston Logan Airport Terminal B — Largest Terminal
Boston Logan Terminal B is the busiest and largest terminal at the airport, with 39 gates arranged in a U-shaped layout with west and east wings. It serves American Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Air Canada and Boutique Air.
Check-in is on Level 2. East side (doors B207–B215): Spirit, Alaska, Southwest, United. West side (doors B201–B206): Air Canada, American. A post-security walkway connects gate B40 to Terminal C.
Boston Logan Airport Terminal C — JetBlue Hub
Boston Logan Terminal C is JetBlue Airways’ home base, handling the largest share of BOS passenger traffic. The terminal also serves Aer Lingus, Etihad Airways, TAP Air Portugal and Cape Air. Post-security walkways connect Terminal C to both Terminal B and Terminal E.
Terminal C is getting upgrades in 2026 including a larger Gate C10 hold room, modernised security checkpoint and refreshed restrooms. A JetBlue Lounge is expected to open in 2026.
Boston Logan Airport Terminal E — International Terminal
Boston Logan Terminal E is the dedicated international terminal, recently expanded with an $800 million modernisation featuring a striking red roof and four new gates. All international arrivals clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection here. The terminal connects airside to Terminal C via a post-security walkway.
The modernised Terminal E features LEED Gold-certified construction, photovoltaic glazing, a sky-lit ceiling and expanded customs facilities. Check-in is on Levels 2–3. Terminal E parking lots are currently closed due to the new 5,000-space garage under construction (expected 2028).
Boston Logan Airport Security Checkpoints
Each of Boston Logan’s four terminals has its own security checkpoint. Always enter through the terminal that matches your airline — going through security in the wrong terminal may require you to exit and re-enter, costing valuable time.
Getting Between Terminals

Unlike hub airports with a single security zone, Boston Logan’s four terminals each have independent security. However, post-security walkways connect three of the four terminals. From Terminal B gate B40, you can walk airside into Terminal C without re-screening. From Terminal C, another walkway leads to Terminal E. This means passengers connecting between B, C and E can transfer without leaving the secure area.
Terminal A is the exception. It is not connected airside to the other terminals. If you need to transfer to or from Terminal A, you must exit security, take the Massport shuttle bus (or walk the pedestrian skywalk from the Central Parking Garage), and re-clear security at your destination terminal. Allow at least 45–60 minutes for Terminal A connections.

Boston Logan is exceptionally well served by public transport, being one of the closest major U.S. airports to its city centre. All ground transportation departs from the Arrivals level (lower level) of each terminal.

Boston Logan Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at Boston Logan or meeting a passenger, all ground transportation is on the Arrivals level (lower level) of each terminal. After landing, passengers follow signs to baggage claim on Level 1. International arrivals in Terminal E clear Customs and Border Protection before proceeding to baggage claim. Global Entry kiosks are available near Terminal E baggage claim.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
Outside each terminal’s lower level you’ll find the Silver Line SL1 stops (free to South Station), Massport shuttle bus stops, taxi stands, and ride-share pick-up areas. The water ferry shuttle (Route 66) also departs from the lower level. Logan Express buses pick up curbside at each terminal on a regular schedule. Follow the overhead signage for your preferred transport option.

Departing passengers should proceed to their airline’s terminal and enter on Level 2 (Departures level) via curbside drop-off or the Central Parking Garage walkways on Level 4. Check in at the appropriate ticket counter, clear your terminal’s security checkpoint, and proceed to your gate. If connecting airside between Terminals B, C and E, follow signs for the walkway connectors.
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Check-in counters and bag drop desks typically close 45–60 minutes before departure. Monitor your gate assignment on the departures boards or your airline’s app, as gate changes are common at BOS.

The Silver Line SL1 is free from the airport to South Station — it’s often faster than a taxi during rush hour and connects to the Red Line. If you have time, Legal Sea Foods in Terminal C is a Boston institution for clam chowder and lobster rolls. Winter travellers should build in extra buffer time from December to March, as snow delays can stack up quickly.
