DFW Airport Map
The DFW Airport map below shows the full layout of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW/KDFW) — the third-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic and the largest hub for American Airlines. DFW handled 87.8 million passengers in 2024 with 29 airlines serving over 269 destinations, more nonstop routes than any other airport in North America.
As you can see on the DFW Airport map, the layout consists of five semicircular terminals (A through E) arranged along International Parkway, each with its own parking garage. The free Skylink people mover connects all terminals inside security, running 24/7. Study the DFW airport map before you travel so you know which terminal your airline uses and where to park.

DFW Airport Location Map
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport sits roughly halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth in North Texas, spanning over 17,000 acres across portions of Grapevine, Irving, Euless and Coppell. The DFW Airport location map below shows its position relative to both cities. The airport is accessed via International Parkway, connecting to SH-114 (north), SH-183/SH-121 (south), I-635 and I-35E (toward Dallas) and I-30/I-35W (toward Fort Worth).
DFW Airport Terminals Overview
DFW has five active terminals — A, B, C, D and E — each shaped as a semicircle with landside parking on the inside and airside gates on the outside. Terminals A, B and C are used exclusively by American Airlines. Terminal D is the primary international terminal. Terminal E serves other major domestic and international carriers. All terminals are connected inside security by the free Skylink people mover and outside security by the free Terminal Link shuttle.
DFW Airport Terminal A — American Airlines
DFW Airport Terminal A is one of three terminals used exclusively by American Airlines for domestic flights. As shown on the DFW Airport map, it sits on the north side of the airport and is connected to Terminals B and C via airside walkways.
Walk to Terminal B via escalator/lift near gate A39 to the Skylink walkway. Walk to Terminal C via the airside walkway past gate A39 on the departures level. DART Orange Line rail station at lower-level entrance A-10.
DFW Airport Terminal B — American Airlines / American Eagle
DFW Airport Terminal B is the largest terminal by gate count, used exclusively by American Airlines and American Eagle for domestic flights. It includes a satellite building with additional gates. The DART Silver Line and TEXRail commuter rail both stop at Terminal B.
35 gates in the main terminal plus 10 in the satellite building. Walk to Terminal D past gate B1 (no moving walkways on this route). Walk to Terminal A via Skylink walkway near gate B4. TEXRail and DART Silver Line at ground level, entry B43.
DFW Airport Terminal C — American Airlines
DFW Airport Terminal C is the third American Airlines–exclusive terminal. It is currently undergoing a major $3 billion renovation, with nine new or rebuilt gates and an expanded concourse expected to open mid-2026.
Walk to Terminal A via airside walkway past gate C2. Walk to Terminal D via Skylink walkway — take escalator past gate C2 to Level 3. Parking garage undergoing reconstruction alongside the terminal renovation.
DFW Airport Terminal D — International Terminal
DFW Airport Terminal D is the primary international gateway with 28 gates, handling flights from carriers worldwide. It has a square layout (unlike the other semicircular terminals) and houses U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities for international arrivals. Terminal D also serves some American Airlines international and domestic flights.
All international arrivals clear customs here. Walk to Terminal B past gate D40 on the same level. Walk to Terminal C via Skylink connector bridge. The Grand Hyatt DFW hotel is located between Terminals C and D with direct terminal access.
DFW Airport Terminal E — Multi-Airline Domestic
DFW Airport Terminal E serves most non-American Airlines carriers plus some American Airlines and American Eagle flights. It includes a satellite building (formerly the Delta hub) with 15 additional gates used by American Eagle. Terminal E is the only terminal not connected to others by airside walkways — you must use Skylink.
No airside walkways to other terminals — use Skylink exclusively. American Eagle operates from the satellite building (gates E31–E38). Lost and found for the entire airport is on Level 1 near baggage claim E4.
Moving Between Terminals on the DFW Airport Map
DFW is a large airport — walking from Terminal E to Terminal B covers over two miles. The fastest way to move between terminals is the Skylink automated people mover, which operates inside security 24 hours a day with trains arriving every two minutes. The average ride between any two terminals takes about five minutes, with the full loop taking up to nine minutes.
Airside Walkways
Some terminals are also connected by airside walkways with moving walkways, meaning you can walk between them without leaving the secure zone. Terminal A connects to both Terminal B (via Skylink walkway near gate A39) and Terminal C (via walkway past gate A39). Terminal B connects to Terminal D by walking past gate B1. Terminal C connects to Terminal D via the Skylink connector bridge on Level 3. Terminal E has no airside walkway connections — Skylink is the only option.
Landside Transfers
If you need to change terminals outside security (for example, to re-check bags), use the free Terminal Link shuttle bus. It stops at every terminal near baggage claim, running every 10–15 minutes from 5 a.m. to midnight. After midnight, call 972-574-5465 for pickup.
DFW Airport Security Checkpoints
DFW has 15 security checkpoints — three per terminal. Because Skylink connects all terminals inside security, you can enter through whichever checkpoint has the shortest line, regardless of which terminal your gate is in, as long as you have a valid boarding pass for the day of travel.
Getting to DFW Airport
DFW is served by three rail lines, ride-share services, taxis, shuttles and rental cars. All ground transport options connect at the individual terminal curbsides or at designated stations.
DFW Airport Parking
Pre-book DFW airport parking at dfwairport.com for up to 50% off the drive-up daily rate and guaranteed availability.
DFW Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at DFW Airport or meeting a passenger, proceed to the terminal where the flight lands. Domestic passengers collect bags from baggage claim on Level 1 of each terminal and exit to the landside curbside. International passengers arriving at Terminal D clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection before proceeding to baggage claim.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
Taxis queue at curbside outside each terminal. Ride-share pickup zones are in the terminal parking garages. For DART rail, take the Terminal Link shuttle or Skylink to Terminal A (Orange Line) or Terminal B (Silver Line and TEXRail). Rental car shuttles depart from each terminal to the off-site Rental Car Center. If picking someone up by car, use the free cell phone waiting lots and collect your passenger at the terminal curbside.
DFW Airport Map — Departures
Departing passengers should drive to the terminal their airline uses — each terminal has its own curbside drop-off, parking garage, check-in counters and security checkpoints. Check in at your airline’s counter, pass through one of the three security checkpoints in your terminal, and proceed to your gate. If your gate is in a different terminal, use Skylink to transfer without leaving security.
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights, especially during the ongoing construction period. Terminals C and D parking garages fill up first during busy periods. If your terminal’s garage is full, park at Terminal A or B and use Skylink to reach your gate after clearing security.
Insider Tips
DFW is enormous — over 17,000 acres, larger than Manhattan. Know your terminal before you arrive. American Airlines flies from all five terminals, so always check your specific gate. Skylink is by far the fastest way to move between terminals — walking from Terminal E to Terminal B is over two miles. Peak security lines tend to be early morning (5–7 a.m.) when American Airlines banks its departures. Download the DFW Airport app for real-time security wait times, gate assignments and parking availability. With ongoing construction in 2026, build in extra time for road detours on International Parkway.
