Fort Myers Airport Map

The Fort Myers Airport map below shows the full layout of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW/KRSW). RSW set an all-time passenger record in 2025 with over 11.1 million travellers, making it the second-busiest single-runway airport in the United States after San Diego. It is a major gateway to Southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast beaches, with 16+ carriers serving more than 78 destinations.

As you can see on the Fort Myers Airport map, the layout is compact: one main terminal building branches into three separate concourses (B, C and D), each with its own TSA security checkpoint. Unlike many larger airports, the concourses are not connected airside — study the RSW airport map before you travel so you know which concourse your airline uses.

Fort Myers Airport Terminal

The main terminal at Southwest Florida International Airport is a single building spanning two main levels. The Fort Myers airport terminal handles all check-in, security, baggage claim and ground transportation. Three concourses — B (east), C (centre) and D (west) — branch off from the terminal, each with its own TSA security checkpoint.

Terminal Levels

📋 Upper Level — Departures
Airline ticket counters, check-in desks, curbside drop-off. TSA security checkpoints to Concourses B, C and D. Pre-security shops and restaurants.
🏷 Lower Level — Arrivals
Baggage claim (10 carousels), ground transportation, rental car facility access, taxi/ride-share pick-up, LeeTran bus stop, TSA PreCheck Enrollment Center.
🚧
Construction (2026): RSW is undergoing a ~$1.7 billion two-phase expansion — the largest public works project in Lee County history. A temporary Concourse C checkpoint opened 5 February 2026. Several central terminal restaurants and shops have permanently closed to make way for a new consolidated 16-lane security checkpoint. Crosswalk and roadway changes are ongoing — allow extra time. Full completion expected by 2029.

Fort Myers Airport Security Checkpoints

Each concourse at RSW has its own TSA security checkpoint with dedicated PreCheck lanes. Concourses B and C are reached via the East Atrium (enter through Door 2 on the upper level). Concourse D is reached via the West Atrium (enter through Door 5). Checkpoints open approximately two hours before the first departure and close around 30 minutes before the last departure from each concourse.

🔒 Concourse B Checkpoint
East Atrium, Door 2. Serves gates B1–B9. TSA PreCheck available. Access to international arrivals (CBP) on lower level.
🔒 Concourse C Checkpoint
Temporary checkpoint opened Feb 2026 (Phase 1 construction). East Atrium, Door 2. Serves gates C1–C9. TSA PreCheck available.
🔒 Concourse D Checkpoint
West Atrium, Door 5. Serves gates D1–D10. TSA PreCheck available.
💡
Tip: Concourses are not connected airside. If you need to transfer between concourses you must exit security and re-clear at the other concourse’s checkpoint. Allow 60–90 minutes for connections between concourses. During the current expansion, arrive earlier than usual — construction may add time navigating the terminal.

Concourse Access During Construction

⚠️ Current routing (2026): The East Atrium inside Door 2 is the only access to Concourses B and C. The West Atrium inside Door 5 is the only access to Concourse D. Delta and WestJet passengers should enter via Door 2 for Concourse C. Pedestrian bridge/crosswalk changes are ongoing — follow posted signage.

Fort Myers Airport Concourse B

Concourse B is on the east side of the terminal and serves the most airlines at RSW, including Southwest, Frontier, Alaska and all international carriers. As shown on the Fort Myers Airport map, it has 9 gates. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is located on the lower level of Concourse B for international arrivals.

Walking Between Concourses on the Fort Myers Airport Map

Unlike airports with underground trains or airside connectors, you cannot walk between concourses at Fort Myers Airport without leaving the secure area. Concourses B, C and D are three separate airside buildings, each with its own TSA checkpoint. To transfer between concourses, you must exit through your current concourse, walk through the public terminal and re-clear security at the destination concourse.

Connection Times Between Concourses

The two furthest gates at RSW are roughly half a mile apart. Walking between gates within the same concourse takes 6–10 minutes. Transferring between concourses — including the walk through the terminal and a second security screening — can take 20–40 minutes depending on checkpoint lines. During peak season (January–March) or construction periods, allow 60–90 minutes for connections between concourses to ensure a stress-free transfer.

Fort Myers Airport Map — Arrivals

If you are arriving at Fort Myers Airport or meeting a passenger, the arrivals area is on the lower level of the main terminal. After landing, passengers exit their concourse and proceed to baggage claim on the lower level. International arrivals go through U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the lower level of Concourse B before reaching the terminal.

Ground Transportation from Arrivals

Ten baggage claim carousels (numbered 1–10) are on the lower level. From there you can access taxis and ride-shares curbside, LeeTran buses at the ground level of the parking garage, rental car counters in the garage facility, and hotel shuttle pick-ups. If picking someone up by car, use the free cell phone waiting lot at Airport Plaza and collect your passenger from the lower-level curbside.

Fort Myers Airport Map — Departures

Departing passengers should enter the main terminal on the upper level via curbside drop-off or the parking garage walkway. Check in at your airline’s ticket counter, then proceed to the correct security checkpoint: the East Atrium (Door 2) for Concourses B and C, or the West Atrium (Door 5) for Concourse D. After clearing security, walk directly to your gate.

Recommended Arrival Times

Arrive at least 90 minutes before domestic flights and two hours before international flights. During snowbird season (January–March) and ongoing construction, add an extra 30 minutes. Check-in counters typically open two to three hours before departure. Gate assignments are shown on flight information screens throughout the terminal and on your airline’s app.

RSW Expansion — New Concourse E

Southwest Florida International Airport is undergoing its largest expansion ever, a roughly $1.7 billion two-phase project. Phase 2 (the $1.1 billion portion) is building a brand-new Concourse E with 14 initial gates (expandable to 19), a new TSA checkpoint, 37,000 square feet of retail space, a new ticketing lobby and baggage claim area. Phase 2 is approximately 30% complete and on schedule for a December 2027 opening. Phase 1 (roughly $678 million) will consolidate the current three separate security checkpoints into a single 16-lane checkpoint, add over 117,000 square feet of new concession and walkway space, and build RSW’s first-ever business lounge (a Delta Sky Club above Concourse C). Phase 1 completion is now estimated for 2029 after design-related delays.

Insider Tips

RSW is compact — don’t confuse it with larger Florida airports. There are no trains or shuttles between concourses, just short walks through the terminal. Know your concourse before you arrive. During construction, several popular pre-security restaurants (Shula’s, Starbucks centre, Sbarro) have permanently closed; Dunkin’ near Concourses B and D and new Evolve Eats self-serve kiosks remain. Free Wi-Fi network: “RSWiFly.” Snowbird season (January–March) brings heavy traffic — arrive early. Renting a car is recommended to explore the Gulf Islands, Sanibel, Captiva and Everglades. Refer to the Fort Myers Airport map above to plan your route through the terminal.
