Glasgow Airport Map & Terminal Guide 2026
One terminal, three piers, 38 gates. Everything you need to navigate Glasgow International Airport (GLA) — Scotland’s main western gateway and the ninth busiest airport in the UK.
Glasgow Airport Map
The Glasgow Airport map below shows the full layout of Glasgow International Airport (GLA/EGPF), located in Paisley, Renfrewshire, about 10 miles west of Glasgow city centre. GLA handled 8.06 million passengers in 2024, a 9.6% rise on the year before, making it the second busiest airport in Scotland and the ninth busiest in the UK. The airport serves as the headquarters of Loganair and as a base for easyJet, Jet2, TUI Airways and British Airways, with more than 30 airlines flying over 100 routes across Europe, North America and the Middle East.
As the Glasgow Airport map shows, the layout is compact and straightforward. There is a single terminal building with two landside check-in zones (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2), one centralised security area called SkyHub on the first floor, and three airside departure piers (West, Central and East) all reachable on foot within about 10 minutes of clearing security. All arrivals are handled at Terminal 1 regardless of airline. Study the GLA airport map before you travel so you know which pier and check-in zone your airline uses.

Glasgow Airport Location Map
Glasgow International Airport sits in Paisley, Renfrewshire, directly alongside the M8 motorway, making it the only airport in Scotland with direct motorway access. The interactive location map below shows GLA in relation to Glasgow city centre, roughly 10 miles to the east. Paisley town centre is less than two miles away. The M8 connects to the M74, M77 and the wider Scottish motorway network, putting the airport within easy reach of central Scotland.

Glasgow Airport Terminal Layout
Glasgow Airport operates from a single terminal building on three floors. The ground floor holds all check-in desks (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 zones), baggage reclaim, and the arrivals halls. The first floor houses the centralised SkyHub security checkpoint, the airside departure lounges, and all three piers. A second floor hosts the UpperDeck Lounge and a bar, viewable from the departure area below.
Terminal 2 is a satellite check-in building connected to Terminal 1 by a covered indoor walkway. It was originally built to serve low-cost and charter airlines during the early 2000s. Passengers who check in at T2 walk through to T1 before heading upstairs to security. There is no separate T2 arrivals area; everyone lands and collects bags at Terminal 1.
Glasgow Airport Security
Security at Glasgow Airport is centralised in the SkyHub area on the first floor of Terminal 1. All passengers, regardless of whether they checked in at T1 or T2, use the same checkpoint before entering the airside departure area. Standard security lanes are free to use. A Fast Track lane is available for purchase, either in advance online or at the checkpoint on the day, and can save significant time during busy morning and evening peaks.
Glasgow Airport West Pier — International Flights
The West Pier, also called the International Pier, was built as part of a 1989 extension and handles all long-haul and most intercontinental routes at Glasgow Airport. Gates 27 to 36 sit on this pier. Almost all stands are equipped with airbridges. The Emirates First and Business class lounge is located at the top of the West Pier. Emirates operates its daily A380 service to Dubai from here, the first regular A380 operation in Scotland when it launched in 2019.
The West Pier is the furthest from security but well signposted. Allow a few extra minutes to walk to the furthest gates, particularly if you land in one of the intermediate piers and need to transfer onward through a connecting flight.
Glasgow Airport Central Pier — London Routes & Short-Haul
The Central Pier forms part of the original 1966 terminal building and serves as the base for British Airways at Glasgow Airport. BA uses the majority of gates here for its London Heathrow, Gatwick and London City shuttle services. The British Airways Executive Club lounge is located on this pier, opposite gate 15. Aer Lingus, Loganair and Jet2 also use Central Pier gates. Most stands have airbridges. This pier covers gates 14 to 26.
The Central Pier handles the busiest domestic routes. If you are flying British Airways to London, this is your pier. The BA lounge requires a qualifying BA ticket or Oneworld status.
Glasgow Airport East Pier — Low-Cost & Regional
The East Pier was built in the mid-1970s and is now used exclusively by low-cost and regional carriers. Easyjet is the largest user, having carried more than one million passengers from Glasgow in a single year for the first time in 2017. Ryanair and Loganair also operate from this pier. Unlike the West and Central piers, none of the stands on the East Pier have airbridges, so passengers board via steps and bus transfer. Gates 1 to 12 are on this pier. A £3 million extension added in 2015 increased its capacity by around 750,000 passengers per year.
No airbridges on the East Pier means all boarding and deplaning is via steps and airside buses. Expect a short bus ride to the aircraft. This pier underwent a 2015 extension and is part of the 2025–2027 pier overhaul programme.
Getting to Glasgow Airport
Glasgow Airport sits directly off the M8 motorway and is the only Scottish airport with direct motorway access. Ground transport for arriving and departing passengers concentrates on the terminal forecourt. There is no rail station at the airport; a long-proposed rail link to Glasgow Central has never been built, though it is periodically revisited.

Glasgow Airport Arrivals
All flights arrive into Terminal 1 regardless of airline or destination. Domestic passengers land and proceed directly to the domestic arrivals hall on the ground floor. International passengers arriving from outside the UK clear Border Force immigration, which is also on the ground floor, before collecting baggage and exiting into the international arrivals hall. The arrivals area is directly in front of the terminal building, where taxis, Bus 500 and car hire are all accessed from the forecourt.
Meeting Arriving Passengers
The arrivals meeting point is in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall on the ground floor. This is where all passengers, whether they flew from Dublin, Dubai or Edinburgh, will exit after collecting their bags. Meeting and greeting areas are clearly signed. For passengers booked with Jet2, Ryanair or other T2 check-in airlines, note that arrivals still come through Terminal 1 as T2 handles departing check-in only.
Glasgow Airport Departures
All departing passengers check in on the ground floor, either in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 depending on their airline. After check-in and bag drop, head upstairs to the first floor for SkyHub security. Once airside, the departure lounges and all three piers are accessible without re-clearing security. Gate numbers appear on the flight information screens throughout the departure area and are usually displayed 45 to 60 minutes before boarding.
Recommended Arrival Times at the Airport
Glasgow Airport recommends arriving at least 2 hours before short-haul and European flights. Allow 3 hours for long-haul routes and during summer peak periods (July and August) when both check-in queues and SkyHub security can back up. If you are parking at one of the off-airport sites with a shuttle transfer, factor in an extra 15 to 20 minutes on top of these times.
Lounges at Glasgow Airport
Three airport lounges operate at Glasgow, covering most class of traveller from economy through to first class long-haul.
Insider Tips for Glasgow Airport
The terminal is compact and the walk from security to any gate is typically under 10 minutes, so the airport is more forgiving than larger UK hubs if you are tight on time. That said, the SkyHub security area can build up fast during the 5 to 9 a.m. morning peak and in July and August, so Fast Track is worth considering. The M8 roadworks running until May 2026 are causing approach road congestion, so avoid depending on cutting it fine in a taxi or private car. Bus 500 is the most reliable and affordable route to the city centre at any hour. The East Pier has no airbridges, so dress for outdoor steps and be ready for a short bus ride to your aircraft in any weather Scotland is offering that day. Refer to the Glasgow Airport map above to plan your terminal route before you arrive.
