Kansas City Airport Map
The Kansas City Airport map below shows the full layout of Kansas City International Airport (MCI/KMCI) — commonly called KCI by locals. MCI served 11.5 million passengers in 2025, down slightly from its all-time record of 12.1 million set in 2024. The airport is a major base for Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines, with 13 carriers serving over 56 nonstop destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
As you can see on the Kansas City Airport map, the layout is simple: a single modern terminal (opened February 2023) shaped like an H, with Concourse A to the south and Concourse B to the north, connected by a central walkway with moving walkways. One security checkpoint serves both concourses. Study the MCI airport map before you travel so you know which concourse and gate to head for.

Kansas City Airport Terminal
Kansas City Airport has a single terminal — a $1.5 billion facility that opened on 28 February 2023, replacing the original three-terminal complex built in 1972. The terminal is shaped like an H: airline counters and security are in the central headhouse, with Concourse A extending to the south and Concourse B to the north. The Kansas City airport terminal has two levels, with a parking garage directly adjacent.
Terminal Levels
Kansas City Airport Security Checkpoint
MCI has one central security checkpoint on Level 2, positioned between the airline ticket counters. With 16 screening lanes, it serves both Concourse A and Concourse B — meaning once you clear security, you can move freely between all 40 gates without re-screening.
Walking Between Concourses
Kansas City Airport Concourse A
Kansas City Airport Concourse A is the smaller of the two concourses, located immediately beyond the security checkpoint. As shown on the Kansas City Airport map, it extends to the south of the terminal headhouse with 13 gates.
Gates A1–A6, A8 and A10 are to the right after security; A12, A14, A16, A18 and A20 are to the left. The concourse has a compact, easy-to-navigate layout with shops and restaurants clustered in the central area.
Kansas City Airport Concourse B
Kansas City Airport Concourse B is the larger concourse, reached via the central walkway with moving walkways from Concourse A. It sits to the north of the terminal headhouse and handles the majority of MCI’s gates.
Gates B40–B49 are to the right; B54–B68 are to the left. The Delta Sky Club sits on a mezzanine above the City Market food hall, with entrance on the north side. The concourse also features the Variety KC Inclusive Family Play Zone.

Kansas City Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at Kansas City Airport or meeting a passenger, the arrivals area is on Level 1 of the terminal. After landing, passengers walk from their gate through the concourse, pass the central area and take escalators or elevators down to Level 1 for baggage claim. International arrivals from Canada or Mexico go through U.S. Customs on Level 1 before entering the main baggage claim area.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
Baggage claim carousels are on Level 1. From there, exit to the arrivals curb for taxis (columns 3A–3D), ride-shares (signposts 2K–2N), rental cars and shuttle services. The USO Lounge is also on Level 1 near Baggage Claim #5 for active military personnel and their dependents. If picking someone up by car, use the free cell phone waiting lot at 680 Brasilia Avenue and collect your passenger from the Level 1 arrivals curb.
Kansas City Airport Map — Departures
Departing passengers should enter the terminal on Level 2 via curbside drop-off or the parking garage walkway. Check in at your airline’s ticket counter (east or west end of Level 2), then proceed to the central security checkpoint. After clearing security, you enter Concourse A directly. If your gate is in Concourse B, walk straight ahead through the corridor with moving walkways — about 5–7 minutes.
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Ticket counters typically open two hours before the first departure. MCI ranks among the lowest in delays of all US airports thanks to uncongested airspace, but allow extra time during the 2026 FIFA World Cup period (June–July). Gate assignments are displayed on screens throughout the terminal and on your airline’s app.
Insider Tips
MCI’s single-terminal design means you will never need to change buildings or take a train between concourses — everything is one connected walk. Over 80 percent of the shops and restaurants are local Kansas City brands, so try the BBQ: Meat Mitch in Concourse A or Stockyards Brewing Co. in Concourse B. The terminal features all-glass passenger boarding bridges at every gate — the largest all-glass facility in the US. Free Wi-Fi is available (connect to “MCI_FREE_WiFi”). Charging stations are at the gates and throughout both concourses. If you are visiting for the 2026 World Cup, use the ConnectKC26 buses rather than renting a car — stadium parking is extremely limited (only ~3,000–4,000 spaces at Arrowhead).
