Louisville Airport Map & Terminal Guide 2026
One terminal, two concourses, 24 gates. Everything you need to navigate Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) — the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal, Concourses A and B, security, parking and transport.
Louisville Airport Map
The Louisville Airport map below shows the full layout of Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF/KSDF). The airport code SDF comes from its former name, Standiford Field. SDF recorded 4.59 million passengers in 2025 — its third-busiest year on record — with eight airlines serving a record 41 nonstop destinations across the United States.
As the Louisville Airport map shows, the layout is compact and easy to navigate: a single two-level terminal (the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal) with one central security checkpoint leading to two concourses (A and B) connected by a rotunda. Study the SDF airport map before you travel to identify your concourse and gate.

Louisville Airport Location Map
Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is located approximately 7 miles (11 km) south of downtown Louisville. The Louisville Airport location map below shows SDF’s position relative to the city. The airport is accessed via Terminal Drive, connecting to Interstate 65 (downtown and south to Nashville) and the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265, beltway to eastern suburbs and Indiana).
Louisville Airport Terminal — Jerry E. Abramson Terminal
The Jerry E. Abramson Terminal is the sole passenger terminal at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. Named after the former Louisville mayor and Kentucky lieutenant governor, it is a compact two-level building with all check-in, security, baggage claim and ground transportation under one roof. The terminal is divided into east and west sides, with airline ticket counters on Level 2 and baggage claim on Level 1.
Terminal Levels
Louisville Airport Security Checkpoint
Louisville Airport has a single centralised TSA security checkpoint located in the rotunda on Level 2 of the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal, past the ticketing counters. After clearing security, you turn left for Concourse A or right for Concourse B. There is no need to choose a checkpoint — one checkpoint serves all gates.
After Security — Reaching Your Concourse
Louisville Airport Concourse A
Concourse A is located to the left of the security rotunda, as shown on the Louisville Airport map. It contains 12 gates (A1–A15) and serves Delta, United, Allegiant and Frontier.
Concourse A connects major hubs via Delta (Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York–LGA, Boston), United (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Washington–Dulles) and low-cost carriers Allegiant and Frontier.
Louisville Airport Concourse B
Concourse B is to the right of the security rotunda. It is the busier of the two concourses with 12 gates (B2–B19), serving Southwest, American, Breeze and Spirit.
Concourse B handles the most daily departures. Southwest offers the most gates here, while American connects to hubs like Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas–DFW and Philadelphia. Breeze serves leisure routes including Charleston, San Francisco and Los Angeles (seasonal).
Walking Between Concourses on the Louisville Airport Map
Louisville Airport is one of the easiest US airports to navigate. Both concourses are located inside the same secure area, connected through the central rotunda. After clearing the single security checkpoint, you can walk freely between Concourse A and Concourse B without re-clearing security. The walk from one end of Concourse A to the far end of Concourse B takes roughly 5–10 minutes, with moving walkways available.
Connection Times
Because both concourses share a single post-security zone, connections at SDF are fast. Allow 15–20 minutes for a comfortable connection between gates on different concourses. The compact terminal means even far-end gates are never more than a short walk away. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal — the strongest signal is near the central food court area.

Louisville Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at Louisville Airport or meeting a passenger, the arrivals area is on Level 1 (lower level) of the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal. After landing, passengers walk from their gate through the concourse, past the rotunda, and take the escalator or elevator down to Level 1 for baggage claim.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
Baggage claim carousels are on Level 1. From there, exit to the lower-level roadway for taxis (commercial curb), ride-share (west side), hotel shuttles (green curb) and TARC buses (east end island). Rental car counters are also located on Level 1 inside the terminal. If picking someone up by car, use the free cell phone waiting area within the Express Shuttle Lot — free for up to 2 hours.
Louisville Airport Map — Departures
Departing passengers should enter the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal on Level 2 via the upper-level curbside drop-off or the parking garage walkways. Check in at your airline’s ticket counter, then proceed through the central security checkpoint in the rotunda. After clearing security, turn left for Concourse A or right for Concourse B to reach your gate.
Recommended Arrival Times
The airport recommends arriving at least 90 minutes before domestic flights and 2 hours before flights to international connecting hubs. Note that the security checkpoint closes at 9 p.m. daily — if your flight is delayed, clear security before then. Check-in counters and bag drop desks typically close 45–60 minutes before departure.
Insider Tips
Louisville’s airport is one of the most navigable in the US — with just one terminal and 24 gates, you’re never far from anything. If you’re flying during Kentucky Derby season (late April–early May), expect significantly higher traffic and consider arriving extra early. The Bourbon Kitchen in Concourse A and the Kentucky Ale Taproom in Concourse B offer local flavour before your flight. SDF is also home to UPS Worldport, the world’s largest automated package-handling facility — you may spot wide-body cargo aircraft on the airfield. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal.
