Minneapolis Airport Map
The Minneapolis Airport map below shows the full layout of Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP/KMSP). MSP handled 36.1 million passengers in 2025, including a record 3.61 million international travellers across 35 international destinations. It is a major hub for Delta Air Lines (roughly 55% of passenger traffic) and a base for Minnesota’s hometown carrier Sun Country Airlines, with 20 airlines serving 167 nonstop destinations.
As you can see on the Minneapolis Airport map, the layout is split across two separate terminals roughly one mile apart: Terminal 1 (Lindbergh) with seven concourses (A–G) and Terminal 2 (Humphrey) with one concourse (H). The terminals are not connected inside the airport — the free METRO Blue Line light rail is the fastest way between them. Check your airline’s terminal before you drive to MSP, as each terminal is accessed from a separate exit off Minnesota Highway 5.

Minneapolis Airport Terminal 2 — Humphrey
Terminal 2 (Humphrey) is the smaller terminal at MSP, named after Vice President Hubert Humphrey. It has a single concourse (H) with 16 gates and serves budget and low-cost carriers including Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Frontier and Icelandair. Terminal 2 set an annual passenger record in 2024 with over 6.8 million travellers.
Minneapolis Airport Security Checkpoints
Terminal 1 has two main security checkpoints — North and South — both on the Ticketing level (Level 2). At least one is open 24 hours. Both offer TSA PreCheck lanes, and CLEAR kiosks are available at both. The Skyway Security Checkpoint on the Concourse C/G connector bridge is temporarily closed. Terminal 2 has two checkpoints on Level 2, open from 4 a.m. until the last scheduled departure.
Minneapolis Airport Concourses — Terminal 1
Terminal 1 has seven concourses labelled A through G. Concourses A and B are at the southeast end, Concourse C runs the full length of the east side, Concourses D, E and F sit across the north end, and Concourse G runs down the west side. The MSP Mall — a central shopping and dining hub — connects the area between Concourses E and F.
Southeast end of Terminal 1. Moving walkways run almost the full length. Accessible via the underground tram from Concourse C (stop near gate C27) or by walking through Concourse C.
Satellite concourse at the south end. Access via an underground walkway from Concourse C (near gate C27 on Level T). No shops or restaurants — eat before you walk over.
The longest concourse, running north to south. An underground tram with three stations runs its full length — take it to avoid the long walk. Also has moving walkways. TSA PreCheck enrollment center near gate C21.
Small concourse in the northeast corner, directly past the North Security Checkpoint. Quick walk from check-in.
North end of Terminal 1, opposite the North Security Checkpoint. The MSP Mall — a central hub of shops and restaurants — sits between Concourses E and F.
Opposite the South Security Checkpoint at the north end. Delta Sky Club at the entrance. Close to the MSP Mall for dining and shopping.
The international gateway. Runs down the west side of Terminal 1 with moving walkways. Currently 10 gates handle international arrivals (expanding to 13 in the 2028 renovation). Allow extra time — low-numbered gates are a long walk from the MSP Mall.
Minneapolis Airport Concourse H — Terminal 2
Terminal 2’s single concourse. Smaller selection of food and shops than Terminal 1. Sun Country is the largest carrier here. A free express drop-off and pick-up lane is available in the Purple Ramp, open 24 hours.
Getting Between Terminals on the Minneapolis Airport Map
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are about one mile apart and are not connected inside the airport. You cannot walk between them. The two terminals are accessed from separate exits off Minnesota Highway 5, so taking the wrong exit means a several-minute detour by road.
Walking Within Terminal 1
Terminal 1 is large — allow 10 to 15 minutes to move between distant concourses. Concourse C has an underground tram with three stops running its full length, helping you avoid the long walk. Moving walkways are available on Concourses A, C and G. If connecting between far-end gates (for example, Concourse A to Concourse G), allow at least 20–30 minutes. The MSP Mall, located between Concourses E and F, is a good central meeting point.
Getting to Minneapolis Airport
All public transport serves both terminals via the METRO Blue Line light rail. Terminal 1’s transit centre is on Level T; Terminal 2’s station is at the Orange Ramp.

Minneapolis Airport Map — Arrivals
If you are arriving at Minneapolis Airport or meeting a passenger, the arrivals area depends on your terminal. At Terminal 1, baggage claim is on Level 1 — follow signs from your concourse. International arrivals in Terminal 1 are processed through U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Concourse G before proceeding to baggage claim. At Terminal 2, baggage claim is on Level 1 near ticketing.
Ground Transportation from Arrivals
At Terminal 1, ride-share and taxi pickup is on Level T (Tram Level). The METRO Blue Line station is accessible via the tram from Level T to the Red/Blue/Silver ramps. Rental cars are on Level 1. At Terminal 2, ride-share and ground transport are outside baggage claim on Level 1, and the Blue Line station is in the Orange Ramp. If picking someone up by car, use the free cell phone waiting lot on Post Road between the two terminals.
Minneapolis Airport Map — Departures
At Terminal 1, departing passengers should proceed to the Ticketing level (Level 2) for airline check-in, or use Level T for Delta check-in and tram access. After checking in, go through either the North or South security checkpoint on Level 2, then follow signs to your concourse. At Terminal 2, ticketing is on Level 1 and security checkpoints are on Level 2.
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Average security wait times at MSP are 20 to 25 minutes, but can reach 50 minutes during peak periods (mornings, holidays, February–April and June–August). Consider booking a free MSP RESERVE appointment to reduce your wait.
Insider Tips
MSP was ranked the No. 1 airport in North America by J.D. Power in 2024 for the second time in three years — and it lives up to the reputation. The biggest mistake travellers make is going to the wrong terminal, so always check before you leave. If you’re flying Delta, you want Terminal 1; if you’re flying Southwest or Sun Country, you want Terminal 2. The METRO Blue Line between terminals is free and runs 24/7. In Terminal 1, the underground tram along Concourse C is a lifesaver — use it instead of the long walk. For lounges, Terminal 1 has two Delta Sky Clubs (Concourses C and F), a United Club (Concourse E) and the Escape Lounge (mezzanine near Concourse E). Minnesota winters are harsh — the skyway-connected parking ramps at Terminal 1 let you avoid the cold entirely.
