Salt Lake City Airport Map
The Salt Lake City Airport map below shows the full layout of Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC/KSLC) — known locally as the New SLC. The airport set an all-time passenger record in 2024 with 28.4 million travellers, making it the 23rd-busiest airport in the United States and the busiest in Utah. It is the primary hub for Delta Air Lines and a major gateway to the Intermountain West, with 300+ daily departures to more than 100 nonstop destinations across North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
As you can see on the Salt Lake City Airport map, the layout is linear and modern: one central terminal building connected to two parallel concourses — Concourse A (Delta hub) and Concourse B (all other airlines) — via two underground pedestrian tunnels. The $5.1 billion New SLC Redevelopment Program is in its final phase, with 11 more gates opening in October 2026 to bring the total to 94.

Salt Lake City Airport Terminal
The New SLC central terminal is a 909,000-square-foot building at the south end of the airport campus, flanked by two linear concourses. The terminal handles all check-in, security, baggage claim, customs and ground transportation. Fifty-foot floor-to-ceiling glass walls flood the building with natural light and frame views of the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains. The terminal is divided into three levels.
Terminal Levels
Salt Lake City Airport Security
All SLC security screening is handled at a single centralized checkpoint on Level 2 of the main terminal. After clearing security, passengers enter The Plaza area and can proceed to either Concourse A or Concourse B via the underground tunnels. A separate international arrivals security checkpoint on Level 1 serves passengers connecting from international flights to domestic gates.
Underground Tunnels to Gates
Salt Lake City Airport Concourse A — Delta Hub
Concourse A is Delta Air Lines’ primary hub, stretching 3,700 feet along the west side of the airport. It houses 47 gates including all international departures. Concourse A-West (gates A1–A25 area) opened in September 2020 and Concourse A-East (gates A27–A35 area) completed in October 2023.
International arrivals including U.S. Customs and Border Protection are processed at Terminal Level 1, not in Concourse A. International departing gates are located on Concourse A. The original Delta Sky Club here opened in 2020 and features a covered outdoor Sky Deck with panoramic Wasatch Range views and a 360-degree fireplace.
Salt Lake City Airport Concourse B
Concourse B is the multi-airline concourse, running 3,400 feet along the east side of the airport. It currently has 36 gates and is being extended eastward — 10 gates opened in October 2025 as part of Phase 4, with 11 more following in October 2026. At completion, Concourse B will hold 47 gates.
The new Delta Sky Club B is the second-largest in the Delta network at 34,000 sq ft, seating 600 guests. It features a Digital Immersion wall with panoramic Utah landscapes. The Amex Centurion Lounge is SLC’s first non-airline-specific lounge and accepts Priority Pass and a $50 day pass. A United Club is planned for the far east end of Concourse B upon Phase 4 completion.
Moving Between Concourses on the Salt Lake City Airport Map
Concourses A and B are connected airside by two underground pedestrian tunnels, so you never need to re-clear security for domestic connections. The River Tunnel — the newer of the two, opened as part of Phase 3 in October 2024 — is a 1,175-foot passage linking the central plaza areas of both concourses and cut typical connection times from over 13 minutes to under six. The Mid-Concourse Tunnel is a shorter route located between approximately gates A13–A15 on Concourse A and B1–B2 on Concourse B, useful for connections between the west portions of each concourse.
Connection Times Between Concourses
Both tunnels are fitted with moving walkways. From the central plaza of Concourse A to the central plaza of Concourse B via the River Tunnel takes approximately 5–6 minutes at a walking pace. Note that Concourse B is still expanding east: the furthest Phase 4 gates, when they open in October 2026, will add additional walking time from the tunnel entrance. Allow at least 30 minutes for connections involving gates at the far ends of either concourse. International arrivals must clear Customs and Border Protection on Terminal Level 1 before accessing the secure zone for any onward domestic flight.

Salt Lake City Airport Map — Arrivals
Domestic arrivals deplane at their concourse gate and walk or ride the moving walkways through the underground tunnel back to the central terminal, emerging at The Plaza on Level 2 near the baggage claim carousels. Eight carousels handle baggage on Level 2. From there, passengers take escalators or elevators down to Level 1 for ground transportation: TRAX (exit door 1A east), ride-share (middle lane, ground level), taxis, rental car shuttles and hotel/ski resort shuttles.
International arrivals follow separate signage to Level 1 Customs and Border Protection for passport control and baggage claim before exiting to ground transportation. Passengers making a domestic connection after clearing customs re-enter the secure zone via the Level 1 international arrivals security checkpoint.
Salt Lake City Airport Map — Departures
Enter the terminal on Level 3 via curbside drop-off or the Gateway Center pedestrian bridge from the parking garage. Check in at your airline’s counter (Delta on the west side, all others on the east side of Level 3) or at the express kiosks in the Gateway Center. Descend to Level 2 for the centralized security checkpoint — the only departure checkpoint in the terminal. After clearing security, you arrive in The Plaza. From The Plaza, follow signs to the River Tunnel (River Tunnel entrance in the middle of The Plaza) for either Concourse A (Delta) or Concourse B (all others).
Recommended Arrival Times
Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures. Check-in counters and bag drop desks typically close 45–60 minutes before departure. Gate assignments are on the flight information screens throughout the terminal and on your airline’s app. SLC consistently ranks among the top US airports for on-time performance, but the single security checkpoint can experience queues on busy morning banks — peak congestion runs from roughly 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Insider Tips
SLC sits at 4,226 feet above sea level — notably lower than Denver but still enough for mild altitude effects if you’re coming from sea level. The mountains are visible through the terminal’s floor-to-ceiling windows from The Plaza and both concourses. If you’re heading to ski country, many resorts — Park City, Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Deer Valley — offer direct shuttle service from Level 1; reserving a seat in advance is recommended on peak ski weekends. Delta dominates SLC with over 70% of passengers, so Concourse A often has shorter taxi times than other hub airports. The River Tunnel art installations make the sub-6-minute connection walk surprisingly pleasant. Download the SLC Airport app for real-time gate information, live shuttle tracking and interactive maps.
