The St. Pete-Clearwater Airport map below shows the full layout of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE/KPIE). PIE set a passenger record in 2025 with nearly 2.8 million travellers, a 17% jump over the previous year. The airport is a focus city for Allegiant Air, which operates the vast majority of flights with 63+ nonstop routes to cities across the eastern United States. Sun Country Airlines also runs seasonal service.

As you can see on the PIE airport map, the layout is exceptionally simple: one compact terminal building with two gate areas (A-Side and B-Side), all within a short walk of each other. Allegiant checks in at Ticketing A and Sun Country at Ticketing B. Study the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport map before you travel to locate your parking lot and gate area.

St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Terminal

PIE has a single, compact terminal building at 14700 Terminal Boulevard. The airport’s tagline is “Tampa Bay The Easy Way” — and for good reason. From the parking lot to your gate is often under five minutes on foot. The terminal has two levels: the ground level for ticketing, security and gates, and a second level with a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility for international charter arrivals.

🚧
Expansion (2026): PIE is in the design phase of a $110+ million terminal expansion that will add more gates, consolidate TSA checkpoints, build a new boarding level with jet bridges and create space for new food and beverage vendors. A separate $60 million, 2,000-space parking garage on the Strawberry lot site is expected to open in late 2027. Construction may cause occasional detours.

St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Security

PIE has one TSA security checkpoint located between the ticketing counters and the gate areas. The checkpoint includes a TSA PreCheck lane for eligible passengers. CLEAR is not available at PIE. Security hours align with the flight schedule — the checkpoint opens approximately two hours before the first departure of the day.

💡
Tip: PIE is a small airport, but security lines can build during peak departure windows (typically morning and early afternoon). Arrive at least 2 hours before your flight. The busiest months are July, June and March.

St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Gates

After clearing security, all gates are within a short walk. The terminal has two gate areas divided into the A-Side and B-Side, with 10 active departure gates numbered 2 through 11. Gate 1 and Gate 12 are used for arrivals only.

Sun Country Airlines operates from the B-Side when running seasonal Minneapolis service. Allegiant overflow flights also use B-Side gates. Check your boarding pass or the flight information monitors for your assigned gate.

Compact airport: All 10 gates are within a 2–3 minute walk of the TSA checkpoint. No trains, no shuttles between gates — just walk. PIE is one of the easiest airports to navigate in the United States.

St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Map — Arrivals

If you are arriving at PIE or meeting a passenger, the arrivals area is on the ground level of the terminal. After deplaning (often via tarmac stairs), passengers walk into the terminal and proceed to baggage claim. Carousels are near the terminal exit. A replica of the historic 1914 Benoist airboat — commemorating the world’s first commercial airline flight from St. Petersburg to Tampa — is displayed in the baggage claim area.

Ground Transportation from Arrivals

Exit through the baggage claim doors to reach the Ground Transportation lot, where taxis, hotel shuttles and the Grouper Airport Express pick up passengers. Uber and Lyft pick up at the Arrivals curb in front of the terminal. If someone is collecting you by car, direct them to the free cell phone waiting lot to avoid curbside fines — curbside parking is not permitted and will be ticketed.

St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Map — Departures

Departing passengers should enter the terminal at the Departures entrance between Ticketing A and Ticketing B. Check in at your airline’s counter or, for Allegiant, check in online in advance as counter hours are extremely limited. Proceed through the single TSA checkpoint into the gate area. Check the flight information monitors for your assigned gate (A-Side or B-Side).

Recommended Arrival Times

Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights. For international charter departures, arrive three hours early. Allegiant’s website and app recommend being at your departure gate at least 30 minutes before boarding time. Ticket counter and bag drop availability is very limited — Allegiant’s counter is only open Monday 5–7 PM, Thursday 8–10 AM, and Saturday 2:30–4:30 PM.

Dining & Shopping at PIE

PIE is a small airport, so dining and shopping options are limited compared to larger hubs. Inside security you will find Mazzaro’s Italian Market (a popular local St. Pete deli), Green Iguana Bar & Grill, Dunkin’, and a news and gift shop. There is also a Starbucks near the terminal entrance before security. Charging stations are located near multiple gate areas.

Insider Tips

PIE is a beach-vacation airport — pack accordingly. Allegiant charges for carry-on bags placed in overhead bins, so read the baggage policy before you arrive. Board via tarmac is common here; wear practical shoes and be ready for Florida weather between the terminal and the plane. Check in online to avoid the extremely limited ticket counter hours. If heading to Clearwater Beach, the PSTA Grouper shuttle is significantly cheaper than ride-shares during peak season. Refer to the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport map above to plan your route through the terminal and parking lots.
